My name is Chani Traum. I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant - IBCLC. My career began seven years ago when I became a Registered Nurse. During my time in the NICU and Postpartum unit, I fell in love with assisting parents and their new babies. At that time, I was also beginning my own family. As a new mother I struggled with breastfeeding all three of my children. The feeling of defeat and disappointment further inspired me to make sure other parents were not left feeling the way I did. I began furthering my education on lactation and breastfeeding and started volunteering my time to parents who were struggling with lactation. Whether it was establishing a painless and perfect latch, milk production, or mastitis, I was there to overcome these hurdles and help build their confidence and skill set to supply nourishment for their babies.
Three years ago I completed the CBC course and became a Certified Breastfeeding Counselor and just recently my IBCLC. My current full time employment as a Registered Nurse is working with high-risk postpartum parents. My job responsibilities range from postpartum health, social and mental counseling, and lactation challenges. My goal as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant is to make your breastfeeding experience more about bonding rather than bondage. I am dedicated to making your journey a pleasurable one and troubleshooting whatever challenges you might have regarding nursing. In addition to lactation, I also offer classes for prenatal and postnatal physical and mental health for both you and your partner. It’s never too early to begin discussing your parenting journey and I would love to be there with you every step of the way.
